So, we have finally reached the final days of 2013…Many of
my resolutions never happened, because I have this system of…..oh what’s it
called…hmmm…..laziness. Like most people, the main resolution is to be more
active. There were times where I would go outside and run around in my small
backyard or do 20 minute workout videos with Jillian Michaels, but none kept me
going. People tell me that I should get an exercise buddy, but that doesn’t
really help. If you were to make me pick from food or doing jumping jacks, I
would go with food. I rather live life having my parents delicious Mexican homemade
cooking, which are not burritos, nachos, or chimichangas……….That is not real Mexican
food, you will not find that in Mexico. Beside the resolution, or the term of
real Mexican food, there is the preparation of today, Christmas Eve. There is
always a check list to make sure everything comes out as planned:
1.
Tent
2.
Invitations
3.
Gifts for the kids
4.
Games to entertain both adults and kids
5.
Menu
6.
Setting up décor/ tables & chairs
I live in a household
of 5 people, so putting up a big ass tent won’t be so hard…Invitations have
been out and about….Gifts equals small and cheap, so no kid would say “No fair!
Why did she/he get a Nintendo DS and I got a puzzle box?!” Games for adults
will always lead to playing cards or dominoes vs. the kids: hide & go seek,
land & sea, races, heads up 7-up, etc. No electronics are used because then
it would be the end of the world. The Menu, YES, my favorite out of all things!
Homemade Tamales!!!!! LOVE IT!!!! There will also be Posole, but I’m not such a
fan of stew. Once all the food is ready, my family and I can then set-up
outside. So much work and only a little time to prepare everything! I hope you
all have a wonderful Christmas!
